Mefou National Park
There is a difference between a Zoo and Mefou National Park. That is one way to understate it...
Mefou National park is unique, besides being one of the best attractions of Yaounde city. It's a place that is always trying to ensure primates' safety, you will encounter a different world filled with a lot of nature trails and see the best way to protect monkeys, gorillas and chimpanzee are not in a cage.
You are going to be able to interact with them and see how they develop in their correct habitat.

The Mefou National Park is a unique wildlife haven and one of the most visited touristic attractions located around Yaoundé city. Gorillas, chimps, monkeys are found in the park, together with several bird and trees species.
The goals of Ape Action Africa are to address the immediate threats faced by gorillas and chimps in Africa and to work with communities to develop long-term solutions to ensure their survival in the wild.
Ape, To provide a sanctuary for individual, endangered primates orphaned by the illegal bushmeat and pet trades.
Action, To actively rescue orphaned primates, providing rehabilitation and long-term care in a protected environment.
Africa, To work closely with the Cameroonian people to protect their natural heritage through education and social support.

“We travelled in Cameroon for several weeks. We arrived in Cameroon by boat coming from the Dzanga Sangha National Park in the Central African Republic. Dan picked us up on the shore of the Sangha river in Lobéké National Park. Together with our driver Antoine we then travelled north and finally left the jungle behind us. We first drove to the Cameroonian capital city of Yaoundé and then on to the Ring Road area, where we stayed for quite a while. We visited Lake Nyos and several traditional kingdoms there. Very knowledgeable guide and so we learned a lot about the background of all the different topics. The last days of our Cameroon holiday we spent on the beach. First in Limbé and then in Kribi. Altogether it was a wonderful time...I really can recommend. From others we heard he is considered to be the best tourist guide in Cameroon.”
